Billie Eilish. You probably have heard this name all over the entertainment realm for the past few weeks. The 17 year old artist has been gaining huge superstar success over the past few years with many of her singles becoming hits. But her career has truly skyrocketed over the past few months. Her first single “Ocean Eyes” went viral after being posted on Soundcloud. Since the success and release of this single, she has released more singles, and an EP called a “Don’t Smile at Me” which contains many popular songs like “Idontwannabeyouanymore” and “My Boy”.

Very recently, she has been gaining popularity for her music and all over social media for her vibe and clothing. On March 29, 2019, the long awaited album “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” was released. This song has a very fresh sound; a sound that no one else is producing in pop music right now. The production and vocals at times can give off a sort of creepy vibe, but is so unique and cool. Because this album has been so anticipated, I figured I should give an in depth review of each of the songs and the overall project as a whole to give you a better understanding of this record.

The first track that I felt really gave this album a life of it’s own is titled when the party’s over. This track was one of the original singles for this album, and is very popular online. I love this track and what it does for the overall project. It talks about a relationship struggle, and puts distance between her and her lover. The melody in this song flows beautifully, and shows off her talents and vocal range. This ballad gives a nice break and balances the heavier tracks with a lighter one.

Another song that I felt made this album stand apart from others was bury a friend. This song is probably my favorite song on the whole album. This song adds the most to her overall vibe, in my opinion. The distorted sound, production, and her vocals are astounding on this piece. I LOVE it.

Finally, the last song on the album that I would definitely recommend would be listen before i go. This track talks about her struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. It depicts someone telling their lover why they are “leaving”, and if they want to see them, they better come because she is “leaving soon”. Though this is a dark song, it has beautiful vocals from Billie and is beautifully produced. It also sheds light on a hard but real topic, which needs to be exposed more. Mental health is something she has openly struggled with, so I love that she is using her platform to spread awareness.

All in all, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DID WE GO?” is a beautifully made album. Her vocals are shown in a beautiful light, and the overall vibe of the album is so unique. In my opinion, the sound that Billie Eilish is producing is so fresh and unlike anything out there right now. I am shocked at how much I enjoyed this album, because this is not something I would normally go for. I thoroughly enjoyed this album, and I can’t wait to hear more from her.
